Delta Contracting always wants to connect with reliable and experienced CDL Truck Drivers. While we may not have an immediate opening today, we accept applications year-round for drivers with a Class A or B commercial driver’s license (CDL), particularly those experienced in dump truck operations and construction hauling.
If you’re looking for construction truck driver jobs in Tennessee in a respected construction company, we want to hear from you.
Delta Contracting works on major roadway and grading projects across West Tennessee, and that work depends on qualified drivers to keep materials and equipment moving in good order.
We understand that qualified truck drivers are essential to the success of every construction project, which is why we invest in building long-term relationships with dependable drivers, even before a job opens up.
About the Role
Truck drivers at Delta Contracting play a key role in every project. From hauling asphalt and aggregates to transporting equipment and supporting on-site logistics, our drivers are critical to project success. You’ll work closely with foremen, operators, and field crews to ensure materials are delivered safely and on time.
Depending on the scope of the job, you might haul multiple loads per day or work more closely with a specific paving crew. Drivers are often asked to reposition materials around the job site, move between phases of a project, or ferry equipment between staging areas. The pace and tasks may change, but the job stays the same: be on time, stay alert, and keep things moving.
You’ll also be expected to handle basic vehicle inspections, log driving hours accurately, and communicate with dispatch or field supervisors regarding load timing and route changes. CDL truck drivers at Delta Contracting are more than just operators: They’re essential contributors to a coordinated field effort.
Qualifications We’re Looking For
We’re looking for professional drivers who know their way around the road and job sites. This is what we need from our applicants:
Valid Class A or B CDL:
You’ll need an active CDL with the correct classification for the trucks you’ll be driving. Most of our jobs require a Class A license, but we also have plenty of work for Class B drivers, especially those experienced in dump truck operation. If you’ve worked with multi-axle equipment or heavier loads, please include that in your application.
Hands-on Dump Truck Experience:
This is not an entry-level role. We’re looking for drivers who’ve spent time in the seat and know how to operate safely in paving or construction environments. That includes hauling asphalt, loading and dumping aggregates, navigating tight job sites, and backing up to pavers or spreaders.
Experience in different environments, such as rural, urban, or interstate, is helpful, especially when it comes to adapting to traffic controls, lane closures, or moving within live traffic zones.
Clean Driving Record and Current DOT Medical Card
We check MVRs (Motor Vehicle Records) as part of the application process, and your DOT medical card needs to be valid.
Job Site Awareness and Communication Skills
Our drivers work side-by-side with foremen, heavy equipment operators, and field crews. That means staying alert, being able to follow signals or radio instructions, and knowing how to move safely through active construction zones. If you’ve worked on highway projects or other fast-paced environments, you already understand the importance of this.
You should also be able to read and respond to changing conditions, such as flagged traffic patterns, soft shoulders, or equipment moving into your path.
Experience Hauling Construction Materials
It’s helpful to have experience moving materials like stone, gravel, sand, asphalt, fill dirt, or equipment. Knowing how different materials shift in the bed, how they should be loaded, and how to dump safely on uneven or sloped surfaces helps avoid downtime and keeps the crew on schedule.
Familiarity with DOT and Site-Specific Safety Rules
You should be comfortable doing pre/post-trip inspections, checking loads, securing equipment when necessary, and following all DOT and site safety procedures.
Additional experience with oversized or heavy hauling is a plus. If you’ve worked with pilot cars, escorted loads, or managed height/weight restrictions, we’d like to know that, too. That type of experience is valuable, especially for larger infrastructure jobs where equipment and material loads can vary.
Why Drive for Delta Contracting
Delta Contracting offers truck drivers an opportunity to stay local, work on meaningful infrastructure projects, and be part of a team where they feel respected, equipped, and supported.
Here’s what you can expect:
Competitive Pay
We pay per hour, not per load or per mile. That means you’re compensated for all the time you’re on the job, not just the time you’re moving.
Full-time drivers are also eligible for the following benefits:
- Health insurance
- Vision insurance
- 401 (k) matching
- Dental insurance
- Accrued paid time off
We understand that benefits matter as much as base pay. That’s why our benefits package is designed to support both you and your family, from day-to-day needs to long-term planning.
Local and Regional Projects
Most of our projects are within a reasonable driving distance from West Tennessee. That means no overnight travel, no out-of-state routes, and no long-haul unpredictability. You can go home every day and work close to your home base.
Consistent Project Pipeline During the Season
Delta Contracting handles major grading, paving, and infrastructure work across West Tennessee. These are usually multi-phase, long-term projects that keep our crews and drivers busy.
Professional Crews
Our drivers work closely with foremen, grading crews, and equipment operators throughout the day. Good communication and mutual respect are expected on every job site. Whether you’re delivering asphalt to a paving crew or hauling stone for grading, your role is understood and valued as part of the larger effort.
This is a company that respects professionalism. If you show up prepared, do your job well, and communicate clearly, you’ll be treated like the professional you are.
Reliable Equipment
We invest in modern equipment and scheduled maintenance so you won’t have to spend your day troubleshooting preventable issues or dealing with unsafe conditions.
If a truck isn’t fit for use, we don’t expect you to run it. Maintenance requests are taken seriously, and downtime is addressed promptly to protect our team and maintain project schedules.
Safety Commitment
Delta Contracting maintains a strict safety culture across all field operations. Drivers are expected to follow DOT and job site safety regulations, but just as importantly, they’re supported in doing so.
Additionally, we perform routine safety checks, provide regular training, and follow procedures that prioritize the well-being of everyone on site. If a load, route, or assignment raises a concern, we want to know about it and take action.
